LIGHTING DESIGN SOFTWARE

Lighting design software products described here let you visualize your lighting designs as well as derive data such as surface lumens and watts per square foot. Many lighting product companies offer their own lighting programs, and some less feature-rich application are directed only to exterior lighting or are restricted to the calculation component.

The Products

Lumen Designer (Lighting Technologies Inc.) is the 2003 version of the Lumen Micro application. The interface has been redesigned for ease of use. Users can create all levels of architectural spaces quickly and accurately. It contains an extensive set of tools and robust CAD system, including color-rendering images of the space, a product database, and a library of objects and materials

AGI32 (Lighting Analysts) Allows you to predict lighting system performance for any application. AGI32 can build environments for most any electric lighting application with unlimited luminaires, calculation points, and reflective or transmissive surfaces. AGI32 is also a color rendering tool, providing you with a full color image of your design. Lighting Analysts offer both a full feature and "light" version of the product, as well as a palm version of a zonal cavity estimator.

Lightscape 3.2 (Autodesk) is a global illumination rendering tool. It allows the user to capture lighting effects such as indirect illumination, soft shadowing and color bleeding. Designers use Lightscape to prototype and present to their clients how a building or an object will appear when specific materials and lighting conditions are used. Lightscape is now sold integrated with Autodesk VIZ4, allowing direct linking with their AutoCAD product.
